Spring Mini Sessions!

It’s mini-session season again! Yipeeeee!  … open to anything (families, kids, older babies, etc.). I wasn’t quite sure how to go about doing my mini-sessions this spring, but I knew I wanted something fresh and different. Then came an idea…

I ran into Jessica ( http://www.capturephotosite.com/blog ) at preschool pick-up and we began to talk about how fun it would be to do some really funky but simple sessions out of the studio AND a few shots outside the studio as well (weather permitting). Jessica is GREAT with families and couples (and everything else actually)- especially outdoor photography. I LOVE studio photography- especially photographing little ones… we both know how to act like idiots to get kids to have a great time in photo sessions… So there you have it- you get all of the above- 2 photographers and 2 settings (in AND out- weather permitting).

Meet Addison – Columbus, GA Newborn Photographer

Sweet sweet Addie- 2 weeks old- teeeeny tiny- super patient… what a sweetheart. It was so special to meet this little lady after having photographed her big brother’s first year a few years ago. How fun it was to have a little girl in the studio too, which has been a rarity among all my newborn little fellas lately. :)

Meet Owen – Columbus, GA Newborn Photographer

Today I had fun with 4 day old Owen and his SUPER sweet parents! I was so excited to photograph him at such a young age- and his session went incredibly well because of it! Sleeeeeeeeepy boy! You may recognize this sweet couple from Jessica Flynn’s blog with their BEAUTIFUL maternity photos (non-cheesy too, which is a rarity among maternity photographers!)! Jessica and I are in the process of completing a maternity/newborn combo plan- more on that soon.

Have you heard of Focus on the Family? I love this organization. Families are in crisis… no one is exempt from the many things that could tear a family apart. Yesterday, my 7 year old, Morgan came in my room sometime during the 6 o’clock hour, sat on my bed, and said “you and Daddy will never get a divorce, right?”  It’s sad to me that she even has to know that word, but it’s a big reality of our world. Staying strong as a family/couple takes effort- it doesn’t happen without hard work. Focus on the Family has a wealth of info for the stay-at-home mom, the working mom, the single mom, the frustrated mom/wife, the disorganized mom, the imperfect mom/wife (that’s me… and you) … (you can insert “dad” in there too!). This organization is a major behind the scenes part of my business… I listen to their podcasts when I’m editing. I’ve called their licensed family counsellors (for free!) on several occasions with questions. I’ve learned and grown stronger in countless aspects of marriage and parenting. Let’s face it, those can be the 2 most trying and rewarding parts of life. Anyway, just wanted to share … check out their site focusonthefamily.com !

A little cutie… – Columbus, GA Newborn Photographer

Had to add a few of this little miracle… 2 months old, and just amazingly sweet! These were from a fun morning of experimenting with lighting. One behind the scenes shot- this is a treasure of mine… two things I love: photographing babies and being with my sweet baby, Maggie! They don’t normally mix well, but this day was different. Sure, she did end up with a mini black-eye (bonked her face playing with my cell phone), but we got some great photos. The was taken by Suzanne Jones Photography, one of the photographers I share the studio with (along with Capture Photography, Jessica Flynn). Love these girls and their work! Anyway… on to a couple more photos…

A new fav of Maggie as well. More of my big girls coming soon…
